Through the 160 lessons of Mastering the Keyboard with Keyboard Numbers, each containing a short introduction and comprehensive exercise, students follow a progression in knowledge and skills in the study of the keyboard while enhancing their self-study skills without full reliance on their music teacher.

Adapted from the Kumon method for learning mathematics, progression is so gradual that it enables students to acquire skills to advance immediately, emphasizing speed and accuracy. Most lessons can be completed in less than twenty minutes. Thus, it is recommended that the student regularly devote a small amount of time to music theory study every week.

Note-reading is a fundamental skill for beginning music students, and not any less important for the experienced. Strong note-reading skills support extended music practice and guide the student's progression into more difficult musical matters, regardless of their instruments. The keyboard serves as a solid platform with which the skill of reading notes and development of better reflexes can be built.

This series of four exercise books comprises an easy-to-use supplementary course primarily designed for piano students, by helping beginner and intermediate students build a strong foundation in reading notes by using keyboard numbers.
